Empire is a movie about having fun riding your bike New York City. In the tradition of BMX and skate movies, Empire follows New York’s best fixed gear riders and a few special out-of-town guests in and out of traffic all over New York City. Inspired by MASH and Lucas Brunelle, Empire is the first full-length fixed gear film shot entirely in New York City. Featured riders include Tom Lamarche, WONKA, Dwaine, Yatika Starr Fields, Dagga, John Prolly, Kai Perez and surprise guests.
The DVD contains the nearly hour long feature, which screened to sold out audiences around the world for Bicycle Film Festival. It also includes a friends section with many surprises, all the internet trailers and over an hour of never-before-seen footage.
This beautiful package was designed by Jonah Birns, the man behind the look of the Red Hook Crit. The cover features Empire rider Dwain, and the interior is a stunning shot of a working messenger down Sixth Avenue taken by Christian Thormann.
The poster is the main image from the DVD cover featuring Empire rider Dwain. This stunning photograph, taken by Christian Thormann, was transformed into the Empire DVD cover by Jonah Birns as a beautiful photo-illustration evoking a classic Marvel comic book cover. The poster is 43cm x 28cm (approx A3 size) and will be sent flat in a carded envelope.
